St. Michael's Grammar School had a small beginning in a five room rented building in Shakti Nagar. This school was the fruition of the long cherished dream of an outstanding educationist, Mr. E. Mendonza, for an educational institution with a difference.

In January 1967, the school moved to a more spacious building in Model Town. As the enrollment and programs expanded. Mr. E. Mendonza decided in 1969 that for the better growth of the school, he would establish a registered educational society under the title of the St. Michael's Educational Foundation. The school then moved to Shahbad Daulatpur and classes were started in temporary buildings in January 1972. The first batch of students passed out of school in January 1976. On February 26, 1977, the foundation stone was laid for the new St. Michael's Grammar School by Rt. Rev. Dr. Angelo Fernandes.
